New Himeko Song And What I've Been Working On / Upcoming Projects

 

So, this was a longer gap between posts than I intended, but I've been super busy, so it happens (and likely will happen again lol)

The song is titled, Hey, This Isn't Baseball, and its part of my upcoming dark lolicore revival album. I've always really loved the dark side of lolicore, and its so uncommon now these days, so that's the whole idea of the album, to remind people that this sound exists (and explore actually making it myself). Technically, I actually started this album quite a long time ago, but I have so many projects it can take awhile for an album to actually reach completion, but this is one of my main focuses as of now as I'm having a lot of fun with it.

A bit about the song, I was playing shitty eroge as I often do, one was baseball themed, and it gave me a wild idea of making a dark lolicore song with a baseball theme. I could hear it in my head so I knew it would work, so ripped some eroge vocals, gathered some baseball samples (organs and SFX), and made the tune. This track was actually made live on Discord, it was fun, might do again (maybe on Twitch even, we'll see). Anyways, I really love how this came out.

As for other projects, I've been back to hyperactive, but a lot of it can't be shared just yet. There's a lot of freelance composition work happening, I made music for an upcoming VRC event (details TBA), am working on another game soundtrack (which is coming out really awesome so far, but game wont be out for two months tops), and a lot more projects, both personal and freelance. There's a lot of upcoming Himeko albums and EPs too, got a lot in progress, and stuff is actually being worked on all the time now. Its really awesome being back in the groove, was burnt out for super long barely making stuff.

Years ago CDR randomly mailed me a random Neon Genesis Evangelion OST CD that reeked of cigarette smoke, and this album always makes me think of that. EVANGELION WORKS 0.0000000 is a phenomenal album that just never gets old, I remember I listened to it on repeat when it first released, and have listened to it every few months since then. This album is full of amen loop heavy lolicore full of BGM sampling, I absolutely love BGM samples in lolicore (and used to do it a ton back in the day), so this album really hits a sweet spot for me. What I find really interesting about this album too is how some of the tunes remind me of old Western lolicore artists, like the beginning of Why Are You Stupid ? reminding me of Lolishit's Asuka Langley Soryu with looped Asuka samples and amens (and even sampling the same line, but in different languages), and The Beast's clustered mixing reminded me of some old blasted out LOLI RIPE stuff.

Another stand out to me too is the breakbeat part in King Of Boys Love, the breaks over the Evangelion piano just goes so hard, and I've always loved how CDR will mix a lot of slower breaks into his tunes (which has influenced my own works). Nigechadameda Acid is a really nice change of pace too, an unexpected acid tune that somehow fits perfectly, like how Squarepusher sometimes tosses in tunes like this into albums, really feels traditional to classic electronica. I Feel Sick totally kicks ass too, with all the medical beeps and *the scene* mixed with old-school-style Asuka voice sampling and constant amen breaks. That part in the middle too is such a nice build too despite just being one sound looped, it transitions so well into the more chaotic second half of the song, which is one of my favorite parts of this entire album. Album clears out with Omedetou, which basically feels like a much welcomed reprise of King Of The Hill, I mean, King Of Boys Love.

Overall, if you love CDR's amen heavy stuff, and the Evangelion OST, then this is a must listen. Also, I love the heavy Asuka sampling in this, I know CDR is a Rei guy, but I'm team Asuka all the way; its nice to be represented.

My commentary on the release of this week~! Gold listings means its a favorite of mine for this week~

TV1743 - Violet Powder - Bloody Massacre
The first release of this week was by Violet Powder. This mini-album is a mix of their signature slow and rhythmic loli-goregrind sound and also horrorcore. The grind stuff is very nice and is unique for the genre, it doesn't sound like the typical slower side of goregrind. The horrorcore tracks on this are really nice, I love their rap stuff so I'm happy that they're releasing more of it. The vibes of these tracks vary and they feature very nice gore hop vocals, really amazing stuff. This is one of my favorites of the week~

TV1744 - ＨａｒｓｈＮｏｉｓｅＦａｃｔｏｒｙ™ - Untitled 01
ＨａｒｓｈＮｏｉｓｅＦａｃｔｏｒｙ™ at it again with another noise output, this is a newer artist to the label but they're very active~! This is a nice and dense noise track with a lot of crushing low frequencies. This is a really nice noise track~

TV1745 - Insectoid Girl - White Mantidian
They told me this is ghostwave, and I have no idea wtf ghostwave is. The mini-album is very downtempo and carries heavy IDM themes, it reminds me a lot of Phoenecia. The release has downtempo beats that range from IDM to more hip-hop inspired, with dark melodies, ghostly processed samples (?), and is really nice. Seriously, check this out if you like Phoenecia.

TV1746 - Acid Applejack - LadyBug
Acid Applejack delivered a nice hardstyle single this week. The single features very nice interludes between hardstyle portions full of a variety of nice sounds and melodies. This is the most "club friendly" release of the week

TV1747 - Antimatter Prism - 9 Seconds Noise For Cirno
Cirno is bae and this is 9 seconds of noise dedicated to her. The single is short but is very good, loud dense noise, good stuff. Pick it up when you're downloading other releases, its only 9 seconds~!

TV1748 - AGU! - Degenerate
Yessssssssssssss, more AGU!(!) AGU!'s stuff is really good, and I'm very excited to have this on the label. This is a mini-album full of dark breakcore, industrial tunes, dark ambient, and closes with a very nice noise track. The whole album has an incredibly oldschool sound and vibe to it. Loud breaks, dark atmospheres, low frequencies basslines making the tracks full, and nice rhythmic melodies making it all the more fun to listen to. The industrial tracks are also incredibly nice, really good stuff. The mini-album also uses dark ambient tracks to build bridges between songs, and its structurally very cool. I love the combo of dark ambient and breakcore on the same album, and this does it well~ This is my favorite of the week~

TV1737 - Pento - Notebook EP
Really nice mashcore and lolicore EP by Pento~! The tracks change up a nice amount within themselves; one moment its spastic cut and slice mashcore, then its stuttery trance, then breakcore, then speedcore, then slower club music, then lolicore. Its an eclectic release that's a lot of fun to listen to~ Totally recommended if you like mashcore. One of my favorites of the week~

TV1739 - Chaosmond - Half a Hundred Husbandos: Mentai 2
Really amazing shotacore album~! This album is packed with shota cock upbeat tunes that are really fun. Sped up songs, gabber kicks, and breaks; whats there not to love? Despite being shotacore this has a lolicore sound due to the samples being sped up. This is a really nice release, perfect if you love shotacore, partycore, or lolicore. Another favorite of this week~

TV1740 - ＨａｒｓｈＮｏｉｓｅＦａｃｔｏｒｙ™ - Harsh Noise Slowly Becoming White Noise
A nice dense noise track from ＨａｒｓｈＮｏｉｓｅＦａｃｔｏｒｙ™, this one develops slowly making it a perfect noise track to work to. It has a really nice crunchy texture similar to HNW.

TV1741 - Гипертрофированный Антиинтеллектуализм - Горизонт Познания
Really nice dark ambient single, again I think his covers are trolling but I oddly think they go with the music quite well. Nice dark synths with a minimal drum track. It somewhat has a bit of a videogame sound to it imo. Really nice track~

TV1742 - RAINBOW ★ STAR ★ 36 / 木村先生 / Erronia Surrection / VxBxDxDx / XoArK / Antimatter Prism - Noise Split
A nice big split by numerous internet noisers, really amazing album. The tracks are varied but also flow together very nicely into one consistently solid album. This is one of the best noise albums I've heard in quite some time, highly recommended if you like noise music. This is my 3rd fave of the week~

TV1728 - Idiot And Virgin - Politica Para Tontos
Week opened with a shitcore EP by Idiot And Virgin. The EP consists of various short samples combined with relatively long (for grindcore) blasts of heavily distorted drum noise. It sounds like really distorted snare rushes with some minor cuts done here and there. Nice little noisy EP~

TV1729 - Guu - Art Bizarre
A very nice album of IDM heavily inspired by various break-focused genres. I really enjoy this album, its very reminiscent of early 00s IDM. Also the elements of dungeon synth and future jazz just makes it even cooler. The album has a consistent dark feeling throughout, highly recommended for fans of 00s era IDM. One of my favorites of this week~

TV1730 - DJZapElec - A Gay Dancing To The Extratone
Despite the name this is much more glitchy noise than it is extratone. This is a really nice EP full of short spastic glitchy noise tracks. It sounds a lot like more hectic raw data sounds, maybe it is, or maybe its a mix; I didn't ask so I don't know. This is a very nice EP though nonetheless

TV1731 - Гипертрофированный Антиинтеллектуализм - Чертоги Безвременья
A nice dark ambient track from Russia. Гипертрофированный Антиинтеллектуализм is Ha 100's newest project, it focuses on dark ambient and its really nice. Dark atmospheres and cool synths. I'm sure the album covers he uses for this project are a joke but I think they go with the music well and make it more ominous

TV1732 - Distorted Vortex - Giving Zero Fucks
I have no idea why I keep getting dubstep submissions, I really have no idea. But anyways, here's more dubstep~! As you can tell from this releasing on Friday 13th, its a very dark sounding album. The tracks vary in production styles, some sound really angry and some are dark and rhythmic. There's really a lot going on here, I really like this one, its my other favorite of the week~
