Vziel Projet Listening List 33: Это гавнич - Для Нее

Artist: Это гавнич
Genre: Minimal Techno
Label: Immoral Basement Records
CAT#: IBR_297
Year: 2017

This is one of the releases that got me interested in Vziel's Это гавнич stuff. A short two track EP of extremely minimal experimental techno. Both tracks use the same simple kick-only techno loop, then are accompanied by an assortment of field recordings and recorded audio. I love this musique concrete approach to dance music.

Vziel Projet Listening List 32: Merzlux - Putn Stem

Artist: Merzlux
Genre: Experimental
Label: Immoral Basement Records
CAT#: IBR_364
Year: 2018

Two short and very similar tracks (I think the second track is just the first one slightly slowed). Are experimental loops with a heavy focus on loud high pitched frequencies. Normally I'm fine with abrasive sounds, but this managed to actually hurt my ears, very nice.

Vziel Projet Listening List 31: Vziel Projet - The Failure Of Will

Artist: Vziel Projet
Genre: Minimal
Label: Летпав
CAT#: Л0271
Year: 2019

Four seconds of loud high pitch sine waves. Not much to comment on.

Vziel Projet Listening List 30: Thrust Pomp - Harsh Mane

Artist: Thrust Pomp
Genre: Hardcore / Speedcore
Label: Million Releases Records
CAT#: N/A
Year: 2019

Thrust Pomp is Vziel's alias for hardcore, breakcore, and related genres. Vziel usually uses a lot of bizarre rhythms in their works, but this is a four on the floor hardcore banger. A heavy focus on thick gabber kicks, with nice percussion to accentuate rhythms and give it more energy. There's a busy synth line through most of the track which gives it a nice energetic sound. The second half of the single is much more minimal, and I especially like the speedcore section between the two halves.

Vziel Projet Listening List 29: Vziel Projet - Fuck You

Artist: Vziel Projet
Genre: Gaijikore
Label: Million Releases Records
CAT#: N/A
Year: 2019

A short 29 second gaijikore cover of Queen's We Will Rock You, complete with original lyrics. Its pretty humorous to me since when I was in like first grade I had a friend, and we had our joke version of this song with lyrics about flushing cats down toilets, and this single reminds me of that.

Vziel Projet Listening List 28: Nosferatu 1922 - Formal Implications of Count Nosferatu Evil Doctor Count Count Nosferatutututututututu w4o3twer0ifgesrjpiooikskidjfgposidfjg[osd kfmsrkseprok 5 3 45kdsodfg sgtk dkfkfgms r mfkfkfdkfdkfkfd ffddfkfdkfdkgmksdgkgmtlkvcm fksdoksxdfkvkmfvkds fdkgxdkfsfthdfhdfghdgfjhdfghdfghdfhd sfgh

Artist: Nosferatu 1922
Genre: HNW
Label: N/A
CAT#: N/A
Year: 2018

I don't know if Blogger will show the full release name in the title, so in case it doesn't, this is a short HNW single titled, Formal Implications of Count Nosferatu Evil Doctor Count Count Nosferatutututututututu w4o3twer0ifgesrjpiooikskidjfgposidfjg[osd kfmsrkseprok 5 3 45kdsodfg sgtk dkfkfgms r mfkfkfdkfdkfkfd ffddfkfdkfdkgmksdgkgmtlkvcm fksdoksxdfkvkmfvkds fdkgxdkfsfthdfhdfghdgfjhdfghdfghdfhd sfgh. As you can tell from the minions, its sort of the more blatantly shitpost-y side of the alias. Its a 20 second HNW track (which is funny enough as is), but the quality of the track is actually quite good, a nice and loud dense wall. If you like HNW this is actually worth checking out (now get caught by one of those "what are you listening to" things and say the full title).

Vziel Projet Listening List 27: Nosferatu 1922 - Deterministic Patterns Behind Nosferatu Full Moon Addiction

Artist: Nosferatu 1922
Genre: HNW
Label: N/A
CAT#: N/A
Year: 2021

Its just a minute of pure white noise. There was a period where people in this circle of artists were just uploading white noise as albums, tons of these exist from multiple people, there was even an entire label called Pollution Documents that released only white noise (I have a Ninja McTits album on there). Despite that though, I sort of missed why people were doing this, but its here, and it exists.

Vziel Projet Listening List 26: Nosferatu 1922 - MCCCLII

Artist: Nosferatu 1922
Genre: HNW
Label: N/A
CAT#: N/A
Year: 2019

Oh boy, where do I even begin on this. Nosferatu 1922 is the main HNW porject of Vziel's, and its pure insanity. The alias currently has over 1700 releases, yes, 1700+ releases. I don't even want to think of how much time it took them to upload all of these. Most of the releases appear on its own Bandcamp page, but there's label releases as well. I absolutely love this project as its complete spam, re-releasing the same songs hundreds of times as new releases, its both hilarious and brilliant, and reminds me of the other album spammer, Viper. Obviously though, I wont be covering all 1700+ of these as many are the same exact audio of other ones. That said though, the audio isn't exactly the same across the board, there is a level of diversity, so I will just pick through them randomly and cover what I think I hadn't covered before (and with this being HNW, it is possible I accidentally cover the same one again, due to how "same-y" the genre is).

Enough introduction though, many of the alias's releases are 19:22 long, referencing the artist name, but this is one of the single minute ones. Its a short and dense wall that's quite nice and what one would expect with a HNW track. I do wish it was a bit longer since minute long walls have always felt "off" to me, but I don't blame them for wanting quicker upload times.

Vziel Projet Listening List 25: Extensional Emanation - Times of Weakness, the Time of Devotion

Artist: Extensional Emanation
Genre: Ambient
Label: Genetic Trance
CAT#: GT904
Year: 2018

In the previous post I forgot to actually introduce this project of Vziel's so might as well do another one (well, I've heard this before, but you get what I mean). Extensional Emanation is Vziel's ambient alias that has heavy Christian themes, its very cool, and not enough "outsider gospel" music exists. This release is a five minute single, and is much more melodic and rhythmic than the previously discussed release. The song consists of a really nice bell synth that, to me personally, invokes the feeling of night, and it plays nice melodies. The synth is accompanied by a simple percussion pattern, and according to the tags Vziel gave it on Discogs, its meant to be techno, and it definitely has that sort of outsider techno sound. To me personally, the song sounds more ambient and experimental berlin-school type stuff. The sampled outro on the track is nice.

Vziel Projet Listening List 24: Extensional Emanation - Christian Discourse Thoughts on Sacred Objects Trade and Sacred Objects Combinatorics

Artist: Extensional Emanation
Genre: Ambient
Label: Genetic Trance
CAT#: N/A
Year: 2019

Fun fact, this release was the inspiration for the album art of my TCLB release, DR0000_4621. The release is two minute ambient single with a nice meditative sound. A slow moving synth plays notes and is accompanied by a minimalistic percussion loop. The harmonic/melodic side uses a lot of higher octave tones, it almost gets feedback-esque in sound at times, and is an interesting approach to ambient to have it so focused on the higher spectrum. The percussion loop helps to make the song sound meditative.

Vziel Projet Listening List 23: aureolin drifter - aureolin drift

Artist: aureolin drifter
Genre: Avant-Garde Classical
Label: Genetic Trance
CAT#: N/A
Year: 2019

So far (to my knowledge) the only release of the mysterious alias, aureolin drifter. Is a two minute single of rhythmic and minimal snare patterns, sounds like it was inspired by Steve Reich's Clapping Music.

Vziel Projet Listening List 22: Default Artist - 22

Artist: Default Artist
Genre: Field Recording
Label: Multiple Eleven Levels
CAT#: MEL22
Year: 2019

A short 22 second field recording single. Sounds like its a recording of a parking lot, likely somewhere in Ukraine. Its a very nice recording, can hear cars, wind, people talking.

Vziel Projet Listening List 21: Tiholaz - Soundtrack to the 2-V-2018 Picture

Artist: Tiholaz
Genre: Ambient
Label: Genetic Trance
CAT#: GT928
Year: 2018

A short 20 second ambient track. Is very minimal, but very nice, a simple melody with a tight delay on the sounds.

Vziel Projet Listening List 20: Surrogate Sigma - Sandstone Yogini from Madhya Pradesh

Artist: Surrogate Sigma
Genre: Minimal Deep House / Breakbeat Trance
Label: Genetic Trance
CAT#: GT952
Year: 2018

A small two track EP, with both tracks being a little over two minutes each. The first track is a minimal deep house tune, minimalist drums that gradually build into a nice groove, then pretty sounding cut up rhodes, its a nice track. The second track though is the shining star of the EP, a very 90s sounding breakbeat trance tune, a nice catchy lead combined with some cool borderline jungle breakbeats; the composition is incredibly 90s, and the audio quality makes it sound like it was some old demo on a tape somewhere, its very nice.

Vziel Projet Listening List 19: Surrogate Sigma - Like Thee Photo Ov Instagram ~ Detroit Short Dreams

Artist: Surrogate Sigma
Genre: Techno
Label: Genetic Trance
CAT#: GT985
Year: 2018

First, I love the cover art on this album, its hard to pull off cool gray covers, but this one looks so nice. As for the music, its a short and melodic techno EP consisting of three tracks (2/3rds of them being under a minute). The first two tracks are quite melodic and its really nice. The last track is more rhythm based and has some nice grooves in it. The EP is lo-fi, sounding like it was recorded off of speakers, and it adds a nice fidelity to the recordings. I do wish this release was longer though, as there's a lot of nice ideas in it.

Vziel Projet Listening List 18: Prepare your a̶n̶u lawyer - I’m gonna sue you, ukr.net!

Artist: Prepare your a̶n̶u lawyer
Genre: Minimal
Label: Genetic Trance
CAT#: N/A
Year: 2021

A one second sine wave, pretty reminiscent of my old release, Professional Shit Going On Here. This came out during a period where Vziel was spamming simple micro-releases like this, as well as stuff that was just cover arts with no tracks.

Vziel Projet Listening List 17: Surrogate Sigma - Libido Ways

Artist: Surrogate Sigma
Genre: Minimal Techno
Label: Genetic Trance
CAT#: N/A
Year: 2019

A three track album, with the first track being 17 minutes long and the other two tracks being significantly shorter. This is one of my favorite Surrogate Sigma albums, the 17 minute track, Infinity Holds Every Spell, is just so weirdly addictive to me. Its lengthy minimal techno tune that slowly builds over its course, with its main motif being a slightly off bass-y-donk-y sound that gives the song such a nice groove. The rest of the track, like the kicks and hats, go through a variety of patterns throughout the track. Its a very track with only a few elements at a time, but I love this sort of thing. The shorter tracks on the album continue the same concepts of the main track, with the second track having some busy sections, and the last track being extremely sparse and minimal.

Vziel Projet Listening List 16: Hooligan Faust - Better Than You

Artist: Hooligan Faust
Genre: Avant-Garde Classical
Label: Immoral Basement Records
CAT#: IBR_301
Year: 2017

This was actually the first Hooligan Faust release that I heard, and its a short two track EP. Both tracks on the release are really nice and incredibly diverse, completely changing direction and sound every few bars. At some moments its surprisingly melodic/harmonic, at other moments its an assault of what sounds like 90s PC game SFX, and other times more like a score. As with the alias's "theme", its a lot of out dated and bizarre soundfonts, which gives it a really cool sound (also, more people should experiment with soundfonts, is underrated and fun).

Vziel Projet Listening List 15: Tiholaz - Кристалл разбился

Artist: Tiholaz
Genre: Experimental
Label: Genetic Trance
CAT#: GT973
Year: 2018

A short 30 second EP of what appears to be emulated sirens of an emergency vehicle, nicely done for what it is.

Vziel Projet Listening List 14: Hooligan Faust - Farnsworth Determinant

Artist: Hooligan Faust
Genre: Avant-Garde Classical
Label: Genetic Trance
CAT#: GT929
Year: 2018

The stuff Vziel does under the name of Hooligan Faust has always been really interesting me. Often is avant-garde classical and/or melodic tunes with a heavy focus on outdated and bizarre soundfonts, as well as pitching various percussion and sound effects. Farnsworth Determinant is one of my favorite releases of the alias, a two track EP, and I love the weird soundfonts and sounds in the title track; reminds me a lot of old PC games that I used to play as a kid. The second track is cool too with a heavy focus on percussion and a more minimal approach, with some of the motifs of the title track re-appearing.
